Geert Sermon

Geert Sermon, better known as Doctor Vinyl, has been fluttering through nightlife in many shapes and forms for quite a while now. From the ’90s through the 2000s, 2010s and into the 2020s, his record shop Doctor Vinyl became a safe haven for outsiders – a perch that gave him both a helicopter view and feet-on-the-ground insight into the Belgian dance scene. That perspective crystallized in The Sound of Belgium, in countless liner notes for compilations, and in encounters with electronic music legends ranging from Boccaccio to Lou Deprijck, Samy Birnbach, Frank De Wulf and Rembert De Smet and even a real book about the mythical Cherry Moon club. Part night reporter, part archivist of the Belgian night before anyone thought it needed one.
